We’ve been watching chapters 12-16…and have seen a Morgan gain a lot of weight. We’ve also learned about how McDonald’s gets kids to buy their food and the health problems it can cause. In your blog create:
A) A song warning people about what happens if you eat too much fast food or a song about how to be healthier.
OR
B) Record yourself in iMovie telling your thoughts on SuperSize Me– Has this movie changed your view of fast food? Has this movie changed your eating habits?
OR
C) Create a poster (which you will scan into your computer) that warns people about the dangers of fast food or gives them ideas about how to be healthier.
–> if you forgot how to record and post your video using iMovie CLICK HERE for a review.
So we just viewed chapters 19-22 and saw a cafeteria where the students ate french fries and coke for lunch. The cafeteria did not seem to have many healthy meals for their students.
1. Is our cafeteria different?
2. What do you eat for lunch?
3. Would you like to see more healthy foods in the cafeteria? If so, what?

I was making coffee this morning and realized that lately I’ve been putting WAY too many beans in when I prepare it. My coffee is getting too dark and bitter. the problem is I LOVE the new beans I bought–they’re Ethiopian and it costs $11 a pound! But the thought came to my head:
sometimes LESS is more.
See, when I put a little less beans in it, the coffee turns out rich, flavorful, and makes me want to guzzle it.
So here’s my question:
Can you name 1-5 things in YOUR life where LESS is more?
**Bonus Points for GOOD stories.
1. Make a list of 10 foods you believe would make up a healthy meal (include some pictures please). NEED IDEAS? CLICK HERE
2. Why do you think it’s so hard to get people to eat less junk food and eat more fruits, vegetables, and healthy meals?
3. What can families, markets, schools, and/or restaurants do to help kids your age eat healthier? (think of things that may ACTUALLY WORK!)
Click HERE to go to McDonald’s Bag a McMeal page. Order enough food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (you can only order 6 items at a time, so you may have to open the Bag a McMeal window a couple of times). Now, answer the following questions in your blog:
1) How many calories did your McDonald’s meals add up to? How much fat?
2) Did your McDonald’s meal add up to more calories and fat than is recommended for your age (look at the chart above)? If so, how much more?
3) Did the results surprise you? Why or why not?
