Assignment 1 (6th Grade): Make an Apple Account

Before you get started in the wonderful world of blogging, you need to make an apple account.  This account will let you store your files on a single computer and customize your computer to look the way you want it to.  WARNING: sometimes your computer won’t be available…DON’T WORRY…almost everything we do is on the Internet…not on your individual computer.

Assignment 1 (7th & 8th Grade): Say Goodbye to Edublogs

By Laura B

So here we go…it’s a new year and time for a brand new set of activities. Two things have changed since last year:

1. The BIG CHANGE is we are saying GOODBYE to Edublogs.  Unfortunately the service is just too unreliable.  We are switching to Blogspot.com.  Below, you’ll find a quick tutorial on how to register.  All you need is a GMail account.

2. 7th and 8th graders are now experienced bloggers. The new 6th graders, however, have never blogged before. Therefore, most lessons will be divided into either 6th grade assignments or 7th/8th grade assignments. Only do the assignment for your grade.

Welcome 6th Graders!

Well hello there! You are about to start a brand new technology adventure like nothing else!  It’s called “blogging” and it will turn your thoughts, feelings, and ideas into a news source (sort of like NBC, New York Times, or Sports Illustrated).  Click on the link below to watch a video about blogging:

Next, watch a video about what blogging means to Island School Bloggers:

Before the end of class, let’s get back together and discuss the following questions:

1.  What is a blog?

2.  What can you put in your blog?

3. What do you think is not o.k. to put in your blog?

UNLESS YOU ARE TOLD TO, DO NOT DO BLOG ASSIGNMENTS BELOW HERE*
