Assignment 9 (6th Graders), Assignment 8 (7th & 8th Graders) Compassion: Becoming a Gold Miner

Compassion: Feeling the pain of others and wanting to do something about it.

It’s easy to say “I don’t care” about the people, animals, and the environment that suffers around us.  It takes strong people to look at the world’s problems and say “I care” and “I want to fight to make things better”.

Below is a video about suffering taking place in Africa.

Children Mine Gold in Africa

Here’s your assignment:  Pretend you are one of the boys working in the mines.  Write a post about what you do each day and how it feels to work in the mine.  What are you scared about?  Are you ever happy?  What do you wish you could change?
