Five Senses, Minus One

http://www.granitegrok.com/pix/see%20no%20evil.jpg

Most people are born with five senses- sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell.  If you had to give up one sense for the rest of your life, which would you pick, and why?

** Bonus ** Write a story called “A typical day without my sense of _____” (fill in which sense you don’t have).

Assignment 13 (6th Graders) Assignment 12 (7th & 8th Graders)- Child Farm Workers Part 3: Protest!!

Throughout history ordinary people have gotten together to protest against injustices by powerful people. Alone their voice might not have been heard, but together in protest, they have been able to make changes. One of the biggest tools protesters use are signs. Your assignment is to create a sign in Photoshop to protest against child labor in farms. For inspiration, below you will find signs and images that you can use along with your own ideas.

    You are Transformed.

    Prompt by Bill Zimmerman

One morning you wake up to discover that you no longer look like yourself– you are some other creature with apparently more legs and hands and eyes than you remember having before you went to sleep. You break out in a cold sweat, then panic overcomes you as you try to deal with these changes. What are you now?  How did you get into this predicament? How will your life change? You’re not even sure what to call yourself. And yet, are you still ”you” inside?
    Write about your transformation.
